A character with the Phobia quality is scared shitless of something found in their environment. The value of this quality depends on two factors,. The first is whether the object of the character’s fear is common or uncommon. The next is the severity of the fear. Mild, Moderate, Severe, or extreme. Use the information below to add the two values together to find the karma gained from this negative trait. A character with this quality needs to succeed on a composure test in order to fight the urge to get the hell away from the object of fear.
Prevalence of Fear
- Uncommon – The object of fear is rare for the local environment. Examples: Bunnies, Lack of wifi, Hippos, Austrailia. (2 Karma)
- Common – The object of fear is prevalent to the local environment. Examples: Tight spaces, Heights, Guns, Drugs.
Severity of Fear
- Mild – The fear is discomforting and distracting. Apply a -2 dice pool modifier to the character’s mental tests while around the object of fear. Needs to make a composure test around the object of fear every hour while around the fear. (3 Karma)
- Moderate – The the object of fear is a consistent distraction while around it. Take a -4 dice pool modifier to all mental tests while around the object of fear. Needs to make a composure test around the object of fear every hour while around the fear. (8 Karma)
- Severe – The object of fear represents a danger to the character who is around it. Apply a -4 dice pool modifier to all tests made while a character is around the object. The character also suffers a -1 Willpower penalty while around the object in which they fear. Needs to make a composure test around the object of fear every half an hour while around the object. (13 Karma)
- Extreme – At this level, when around the object in which they fear, a character feels fatally threatened for their life. The character receives a -6 dice pool modifier for anything they do and is considered to be in extreme mental agony. The character suffers a -2 willpower penalty while around the object of fear and needs to make a composure test every 15 minutes while under the same conditions. (18 Karma)
